Introducing New Summer Dual Enrollment Program

May 4, 2026 - The East Orange School District (EOSD) is proud to announce the launch of its Jaguar University, an intensive dual enrollment summer program designed to provide high school students with a direct head start on their higher education journey. Through a strategic partnership with Essex County College, rising seniors will have the opportunity to earn transferable college credits while completing their high school requirements.

The inaugural session of Jaguar University will run from July 6 through August 7, 2026, at East Orange Campus High School. Participating students can enroll in English 101 and/or Math 100, gaining firsthand exposure to the pace, independence, and academic rigor of college-level coursework.

Building a Bridge to Higher Education
Jaguar University is designed to foster a supportive academic community. Students will learn as part of a cohort, building the skills and confidence necessary to navigate the transition to post-secondary life.

"We are incredibly excited to open the doors of Jaguar University to our students this summer," said Dr. Christopher Irving, Superintendent of Schools. "This initiative is about expanding access and providing our scholars with a clear, affordable pathway to college success. We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners at Essex County College for their collaboration in making this vision a reality and for their shared commitment to our students' futures."

Exclusive Benefits and Support
To ensure the program remains accessible to all eligible families, EOSD students will benefit from a significantly reduced tuition rate. Participants will pay only $50 per class, representing a savings of over $200 per course compared to standard tuition rates.

Beyond the classroom, students will receive comprehensive support, including access to tutoring, dedicated college advisors, and academic workshops. This holistic approach ensures that students are not only enrolled in college courses but are equipped with the tools to excel in them.

The program will be held at East Orange Campus High School, meeting five days per week for five weeks. It is open to rising seniors within the East Orange School District who are in good academic standing. By completing these courses, students can begin their college journey early and potentially reduce their future overall tuition costs.
